Salvo Danilo Lombardo

Salvo Danilo Lombardo obtained his degree in Medicine and Surgery with Honors at the University of Catania (Italy) in July 2019. During the course of his study, he completed a two year internship in General Pathology, Clinical and Oncology under the supervision of Prof. Ferdinando Nicoletti (Department of biomedical and biotechnology sciences, University of Catania, Italy). He improved his skills in biological data analysis and mathematical and computational modeling for medicine. Additionally, he had the opportunity to participate in and present at various international workshops and congresses (i.e. 23rd World Congress on Advances in Oncology and 22nd International Symposium on Molecular Medicine). He was awarded a Marie Skolodowska-Curie Actions PhD fellowship from the Marie Curie ITN European DohART-NET Periconceptional Programming of Health Training Network project, under the supervision of Dr. Joerg Menche (CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences – Vienna, AT).

Research focus: development of mathematical and computational modeling for medicine, using network medicine tools and system biology approaches, with the goal of evaluating the impact of exposures during pregnancy on the genesis of diseases.
